HISTORY & RESEARCH

MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) was originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical Center in 1979 - introducing mindfulness meditation into mainstream medicine. Over 30 years of clinical and neuroscience research have found mindfulness meditation to positively impact pain, anxiety, depression, inflammation, and a variety of physical conditions that are exacerbated by stress.

RESILIENCE WHEN THE WEATHER IS STORMY.

MBSR is an 8-week course for resilience in the face of whatever life throws your way.

This course supports you to be in new relationship to the circumstance of your life, and provides a buffer against stressors such as pain, injury, work stress, illness, anxiety, or life change.

The program is highly experiential and involves a progression of skills to incorporate mindfulness into everyday life when stress, overwhelm or burnout are present or when you’re going through life transition and ready to make a change. The course consists of weekly topics, meditation practice hours, and informal home practice to use throughout your day.

Mindfulness meditation strengthens the brain regions related to focus, self-awareness and resilience. You will discover ways to respond to stressors deliberately with choice, rather than reactively in the face of life’s challenges.
